Mavericks Hat for Wendy
pattern: Tyson Hat, my pattern
yarn: I Love This Yarn! in black and red
needles: sizes US 8 / 5.0 mm and US 10 / 6.0 mm 16" circs and dpns
We have a pretty amazing local college hockey team. They sell thousands upon thousands of tickets for each home game, we rank in the top ten in the nation consistently, and because you can drink at the games they're quite a raucous good time!
After the latest home game, I received a text from a friend, asking if I could make a pom for her handmade red hat. She'd picked up a hat for her husband with a pom on it, and was having "pom envy"! Rather than simply make a pom for a hat, I made her an entirely new hat -- with the largest pom I could make!
I used the Tyson Hat pattern, but loosely at best. I began decreases at around 6" so the hat would fit snug, and I striped the hat, changing colors every five rows. The hat fits Wendy perfectly, and she's in HEAVEN with such a huge pom to block the view of everyone sitting at least five rows behind her!

The pom was the first thing I noticed in this picture. It really looks nice having both the colors of the stripes in it.
